DEEP DIVING AND SUBMARINE OPERATIONS A MANUAL FOR DEEP SEA DIVERS AND COMPRESSED AIR WORKERS By ROBERT H.DAVIS Kt.,Hon.D.Sc.Birmiingham University FRSA Formally Principal and Managing Director of Siebe Gorman & Company Ltd |

Deep Diving and Submarine Operations was written by Sir RH Davis and was first published in the early 20th Century. Originally written as a manual, the book was enlarged through successive editions culminating in the Eighth edition . This Edition was printed in 1995 as the Ninth edition to celebrate the 175 th anniversary of the Company. Unlike the earlier previous editions the ninth edition was published in 2 volumes. Each volume has over 300 pages and in this format the volumes are easy to handle as the previous volumes were susceptible to spine damage being made up of some 690 pages. Part1 deals particularly with the current state of diving, equipment and technique and there are many pictures and illustrations.
Part 2 carries many stories and illustrations of salvage and rescue as well as technical description and drawings of ancient diving equipment. The appendix carries the history of the company and explains about the development of the submarine escape equipment and underwater television.
The 2 volumes are numbered
1238 and are part of a limited edition of 1500. Both editions appear to
be unread and are contained in an outer sleeve which also bears the
limited edition number. The earlier editions may be more sought after by
collectors but for the enthusiasts this is a more practical option, the
price too is a lot cheaper. For anyone who owns an eighth edition or
earlier edition this is a very practical option to risking damaging your
older edition. There is minimal bumping and the books and sleeve are in
very good condition. The blue covers are embossed with gold lettering.
The cost of the boxed set
is £149.00 plus postage, and payment may be made by paypal or cheque
drawn on a UK bank. Please enquire for further information or details. And we will be pleased to assist in any way we can. |
