Gladiator
Martin Morris graduated dive
school in 1981 and started designing helmets for friends in the Texas and
Louisiana area.
His helmet design was suitable for both inland and offshore use and the company
Heavy Metal Divers was formed.
The helmet design was named Gladiator and a long series of prototypes was
developed, each helmet being fully functional and diveable.
Prototype 1
Simplicity and durability are
the two qualities the makers demand from their helmet.
The shell of the Gladiator is made from bronze and designed for both air and
mixed gas use.
The demand regulator is a Poseidon Xstream regulator which is extremely easy to
maintain.
It can be quickly removed and re-installed in the helmet. The regulator is
extremely easy breathing
at any depth with proper air/ gas pressure upto 125 psi over bottom pressure.
Prototype 2
Much research was done before
the Poseidon Xstream regulator was chosen for use with the helmet.
The design is very simple with few parts. There is no constant requirement to
adjust the regulator when in the water as there are no springs.
There is virtually no breathing resistance with the Xstream regulator.

Gladiator Gen-3r reclaim adaptable
Gladiator Gen - 3a gas hat
Gen-3 Gladiator gashat
utilizes the Poseidon Xstream Duration regulator. The new manifold free flow
valve is made to utilise a Swagelok
Valve stem and replacement parts. Several options are available for the exhaust
system which provides for extremely low CO2 retention.
the Gen-3 "Gladiator" is a commercial diving helmet designed specifically for
military and commercial divers who need and
demand a diving helmet that performs extremely well under demanding
circumstances. We have chosen the Poseidon
"Xstream Duration" for our diving helmet due to its most impressive certs and
cold water capabilities. It also has the
most simple design which means easy maintenance. The impressive certs and cold
water capabilities. It also has the
Xstream has the lowest resistance to inhalation of any regulator currently
available.
The Gen-3 Gladiator has a cast silicon bronze shell 3/16" - 1/4" thick. The
shell is 3 times as thick as Mk-5 diving helmet affording serious head
protection.
The faceplate is 1/2" thick Lexan as opposed to the standard 1/4" thick on the
other diving helmets in production.
Gladiator commercial diving helmets are built to be easy to maintain, last a
seriously long time, and perform the best while
being extremely comfortable.
There are several options available:
Brush finish |
Hose with omni swivel to regulator |
Brush finish |
Copper plated Gas hat |
Crusader
In addition to the Gladiator
Helmet Heavy Metal Divers also make The Crusader Air Helmet. It is a free flow
design with no demand regulator, no oral nasal and dual exhaust as standard
features. It’s lower in price and can also be upgraded to a gas hat.
Heavy Metal Divers are currently building a helmet dedicated for Saturation
Diving utilising a Jewell reclaim unit.
Custom Helmets are a speciallity of Heavy Metal Divers
Plating and Polishing is available on all models.
